Atrios and Ezra Klein, both possessed of better minds than mine, are at risk of losing theirs in their frustration over "centrism." I've got less to lose, but I find it an absurd term.
First off, the more accurate word would be medianism: being exactly midway between those driving left and those driving right; having an equal number of Americans to the right and an equal number to the left of your necessarily ever shifting position.
Secondly, the word makes no sense. An "ism" is a belief, a guiding philosophy. He who always seeks the center believes in nothing.
As George Lakoff has said - look at two Senators commonly called "centrists" - Joe Lieberman and Chuck Hagel. There is probably no issue on which they agree.
(memeorandum)
Right on, right on, right on. Scarry? No?

Now I'm getting frightened. Twice this week we totally agree?
