The Usage Manual at the New York Times was revised under Howell Raines. An appendix bursting with smears of Clintons was added. "Journalists" must consult the appendix and select from the list of disproved slams on Bill and/or Hillary, which must be included in any article mentioning wither of them.
It seems that a certain Mr Gupta is in a bit of a pickle for a variety of reasons involved in his running InfoUSA, a business he founded. There is no implication whatsoever of wrongdoing by either of the Clintons. Still, he has been a big donor to each of them, and is apparently a friend. And so in its article today, the Times somehow felt compelled to describe Mr Gupta as "a Lincoln Bedroom Guest of the Clinton's."
Many have analyzed the data and it is clear that Clinton's use of the White House for overnight guests was not in anyway different from the way the Bush's have used it.
Ironically, if the original smear had been accurate, and if they had been profligate in their invitations, it would undermine the argument that they are especially close to Mr Gupta.
Dear Good Grey Lady, please give it a rest.
