While Bush and the media are talking Al Qaeda all the time - acting as if there is no other cause for violence in Iraq, its important that we remember that Al Qaeda left Baghdad in January.
If you remember Richard Miniter, Pajamas Media and others all announced that Al Qaeda had left Baghdad in January and February:
evacuation of Baghdad by al Qaeda forces comes from direct orders issued by al-Masri, the former soldier who took control of the Iraqi wing of al Qaeda following the June 2006 bombing death of Zarqawi."

I imagine this all came as a surprise to the five U.S. soldiers killed, and the seven wounded, in Baghdad on Friday, along with all the other brave men and women who have lost their livesin that city in the last six months.
