Minnesota Nice

Yesterday's announcement by Al Franken that he intends to run for the Senate in Minnesota was not a great surprise.  Although I haven't heard any jokes from Al about it, the campaign will undoubtedly be hilarious. The behavior of his critics is also not surprising, but it is already cracking me up.

Captain's Quarters explains how Al  is just not nice enough for Minnesota,

People here talk about Minnesota Nice, where people remain pleasant and mind their manners even when they encounter unpleasantness

He then goes on to call Al an "emotionally unstable extremist."

The funny guys at Powerline talk about how unfunny he is, before discussing his cocaine abuse. The Queen of Wit, herself, Sister Toldja, called Al the "author, commodian - I mean comedian.." Got It She's Linking Comedy with Commode. Al won 5 Emmys during the fifteen years he worked for longest running comedy show in the history of TV, Saturday Night Live, - but far be it for me to disagree with the assessments of the comedic geniuses that are Powerline and Sister Todlja.

I guess I really don't understand "Minnesota Nice."
